Our Story

We are an Irish, family-owned
boutique perfumery.

Independent and passionate, we are based in a beautiful, converted farmhouse and barn in Kilmacanogue, County Wicklow.

We began in the 1980’s with a kitchen table conversation between the late Brian Cox and Donald Pratt, father and uncle of our CEO David Cox. The family were intrigued about the lack of Irish perfumes and the two entrepreneurs decided to realise a dream – to start an Irish perfume company to create perfumes that reflected the beauty and magic of Ireland. Over 40 years later and into the 3rd generation, our family company is going stronger than ever.

Our love of fragrance

“Inis the Energy of the Sea” is our signature collection. The Inis range includes perfume, haircare, personal care and home care.

Inis was inspired by the breathtaking Dog’s Bay beach on the West Coast of Ireland, where we took Arthur our perfumer one summer’s day in 1997 to give him inspiration to create the fragrance. We wanted to capture in a bottle the feeling of a fresh summer’s day by the sea and after 20 minutes he had his inspiration; 2 weeks later the perfume was born. Inis is the happiness of walking along the beach with the wind in your hair, sun on your face and sand between your toes - as happy as you are on your summer holidays.

We are obsessed by the Ocean

Inis is the Irish word for island, but even islands are connected by seas and oceans. The stunning waters of the Atlantic Ocean are not only our inspiration but also the source of the nutrient rich sea minerals and sea extracts that we use in all our products.
